Nirangal involves itself a range of activities which include but are not limited to:

Organizing gender and sexuality minorities and sex worker communities through workshops, conversations, trainings, celebrations, and protests.

Providing legal support and raising awareness among the communities about options for redress – knowledge of law and procedures for filing cases, and following up and documenting case progress.

Advocating for decriminalization of homosexuality vis-à-vis Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

Intervening in crises faced by individuals due to sexual orientation or gender identity: violence from families, forced marriages, emotional violence and fear of ‘coming out,’ threat and extortion by the police and thugs.

Sensitizing the media, particularly the Tamil language media, about gender and sexuality issues.

Providing peer-counseling, parental counseling, and referrals to professional mental health services.

Conducting meetings and events to bring together all organizations and collectives working on gender and sexuality and other human rights issues.
